Tim's Place is the very personal story about the author's search for meaning when her son develops kidney deterioration at the age of five years. As Tim grows so does his health problems. Watching her son endure numerous painful procedures, she is determined to protect him from unnecessary probing by curious doctors. Finally, in a last ditch attempt to save his life, she consents to a kidney transplant with herself as the donor.

In 1971, this is the fifth kidney transplant to take place in a prestigious New York City hospital. There are no support groups or information for the layman about this experimental operation. Fringuello finds that keeping a diary acts as a catharsis. She records her feeling of despair and hope, fear and joy as she and her family go through this time of trial. Everyone is amazed at Tim's courage and willingness to participate in his own recovery.

Seven years later when the kidney rejects, the family is again tested to see if a sibling will make a suitable donor. Tim, a brave young man devoid of self-pity, chooses to spend the rest of his life on dialysis rather than ask his sister for her kidney.

Fringuello hopes that by documenting and publishing her own emotional ordeal she will encourage others to donate a kidney if asked to help a family member in distress. As she struggles with her conscience and her soul for answers, she finds inspiration and insight into God's eternal plan.
